Just make sure developer is fresh and not beyond shelf life and do not overwork blix if it is 3 step kit. Blix is not as good as separate bleach fix steps. There being too much retained silver I think, but there is a quality reason beyond ability to replenish. I am not a chemist.

Powdered kits have a shelf life also.

I have done lots of C 41 in a Jobo with never a failure. Also have done it in stainless tanks with a water jacket. Works fine also.

Look to Freestyle to order if you do not have a favorite dealer.

Thanks Tobey. It is a 4 part liquid kit - Developer, Bleach, Fix, Stabiliser. Seems to have longevity as many people seem to make up 500ml-1L batches and fill the original solution bottles with Protectan. Quite a few manage to spread using the kit over 12 months with this method.

I've used the Tetenal Press C-41 Kit with Porta 400, that uses Blix, and got really nice results, much better that the place that usually processes my color film. I don't use it to much because it's best to batch up 12-13 rolls and process them in a few days.

I learned from my first go at it that the hot water and the chemicals tend to leak out of my stainless steel tanks (had the top pop off when draining the tank one time) so my next go at it I will duck tape the lids on and pull the cap off the lid between inversions to off-gas the brew to help contain the leakage.

I don't shoot that much color film and I can't get the kits locally, so it may be a while before I do it again.
