In other words, you must take your M8 even though you intend using your X1? Â You misunderstood me. I could never rely on my X1 as my only 35mm equivelent camera because it is too damn slow. Therefore, I need to have a 35mm equiv on my M8 for the times I want to be fast i.e. zone focus situations that change often. Â That said, I have used my X1 and M8 at the same time with the same lens equiv. Why? Because I prefer my M8 for street (where the X1's AF is too damn slow) and I prefer my X1's LCD accuracy for still lifes, etc. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Â I refuse to zone focus a camera without a proprer depth of field scale (not to mention that shitty wheel on the back of the X1)... to me, that isn't as easy as an M8 at all. The X1 should just have proper AF in the first place. Â Plus, you guys have to understand that there is something special to an M for those of us who love manual rangefinders... cameras like the X1 will never replace that feeling (even if properly implemented). What's the shutter lag difference? Â Besides not having a depth of field scale, looking at the lcd screen to set the estimated distance slows down any MF process. And lastly, that flimsy wheel with which one sets the distance seems to have a life on its own and move upon the slightest touch. So a constant checking of the distance set is unavoidable, via lcd screen again. In short, with the X1 the centre of the attention becomes the camera, with the M, the photographers surroundings. The camera is just too bloody slow! Â The X1 belies everything baked into the seven different Leica-M bodies I have owned: each was facile to use, an automatic extension of my arm that came naturally to eye, delivering killer results after the film/image was processed. I have played with it a number of times now and decided to get something else (I will not say what it is so as not to cause an argument). Â I HATE to say things like 'there's something about it' but even being frustrated, the lens characteristics are unique. nigelb Posted February 5, 2011 Share #38  Posted February 5, 2011 Well just picked up a Nex 3 today, having dismissed it a while ago along with micro 4/3 (2x crop too much for my liking). Got fed up with waiting for a camera on which I could use my collection of Voigtlander lenses that wouldn't break the bank. Visited one of my local camera shops today and found a new Nex 3 body for £170 so grabbed it . My Voigtlander lenses will give 24, 40, 55 and 80mm on the Nex so should work out OK. Just waiting now for my 39mm to E-mount adapter which should arrive late next week before I can try it out. I'm expecting to have to use Cornerfix with the 15mm Heliar. Just got to wait for my adapter to arrive. If it doesn't work out for me I'll sell the body on, I won't lose money. Â Manual focussing is no problem to me. With DOF scale markings on the lenses, makes zone focussing a doddle and will give me something the X1 can't do right now. Â I'll report findings here.
