andybarton Posted July 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2006 A sad day for all Pink Floyd fans everywhere - so that includes me. Did Nick Mason know this news at this time?
elansprint72 Posted July 13, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted July 13, 2006 I think that he must have; there was something unusual in the atmosphere. I went to my kid's High School presentation last night and two of the 14 year olds sang "Wish you were here" as a tribute to Syd; amazing considering the age gap. Cheers, Pete. jtharvie Posted July 14, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2006 I really like this photo . . . I am a big Pink Floyd fan saw them twice in Montreal in the early 70's . . . I notice the "Holly Mason" on the nav seat . . . is this his car? Can you provide some more details on the event . . . for a lad on the Canadain Prairie you Britons have so many photo op's that I'm positively green with envy . . . the best I can hope for is perhaps Randy Bachman or Burton Cummings at the Drive-In with a 70's Challenger . . . sorry just doesn't do it for me. Thanks for the photo. Cheers, JTH

elansprint72 Posted July 14, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted July 14, 2006 John, Nick has been racing at Le Mans (in the "modern" event) for the last xxxx years, he also owns several of these old Astons. Last week he shared the drive with his daughter Holly and his wife. He is one of the most amusing people that I have ever met- his book "Inside Out" is an absolute must for Floyd fans and anyone who appreciates dry humour. The Le Mans Classic is a series of races for cars from the 1920's to the 1980's which were eligible to compete there when new. It runs every two years (this was the third such event) and just gets better and better. Cars race 3 times during the 24 hours for about 1.5 hours per race, so they all get a race in the dark. Thanks for commenting, Pete.
jtharvie Posted July 17, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 17, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the info Pete. . . I'll look for the book in our library . . . if they let me back in . . . I may have to convince my wife that this would be an event to take in if ever we get over there again. Cheers, JTH
