Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere - I did search but did not find a definitive answer. I have found these adapters for sale and would like to know whether anyone here has tried/had any luck with using them and putting Leica M Lenses on their Canon EOS bodies. Thanks in advance. :)

Actually I've done a rough trial of shooting using my 35/1.4 M on a Canon 5D2 using a photar as relay lens, which requires no modification of the camera whatsoever. It worked (roughly - it was a rough trial when I had something else set up) and so is perfectly possible but I can't see that much application.......

If you go to the link in post #4, you can see why Leica M lenses only work for macro on an UNMODIFIED SLR by looking at how much of the camera had to be cut away in the before and after images. The extra thickness of an SLR mirror box acts like a built-in extension tube. That thickness has to be removed for the M lenses to work at normal focus distances (.7 meter to infinity).

However, some people do take macro-photographs (close-ups at life-size of larger) and may well want to do this with M lenses. And a straight M-to-EOS adapter would work for that limited purpose.

Also, M lenses that could be adapted for use on the old Leica Visoflex still used the 4-pronged M mount. There are probably adapters with an EOS mount on the back, an M mount on the front, and exactly enough extra thickness for normal focus range with those lenses on a Canon body.

Basically, I am capturing to my phone. I have used leica R mount lenses that attach nicely to the beast grip's ef adapter, for the reason of shooting video. I have toi zoom in and we lose some of the frame, but the visual quality is amazing for capturing on iphone. I wanted to try some of ttartisan and leica m mounts, as I predicted a better quality due to them being more recent lenses at the sa,e price as the vintae ones, roughly. Any thoughts?
