Mike Rawcs Posted January 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a small flashgun to use with my MP. Just occasional use and just to add a pop of light - not needed to light the entire scene. Any suggestions? Mike.
Advertisement Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Hi Mike Rawcs, Take a look here Small flash for Leica M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Walt Calahan Posted January 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2011 I use a Leica SF-20 strobe with a Nikon SC-17 flash extension cord. Works great on my M6 TTL. Of course you'll have to buy the SF-20 used, or get the newer SF-24. I believe Nikon is making a newer style cord then the SC-17. The SF20 and 24 are small, lightweight and very good for adding light. I usually use the diffusion lens to spread the light even when not using a wide lens. Hope that's helpful. pico Posted January 19, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 19, 2011 The SF24 is very good on the M7.
too old to care Posted January 19, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2011 I went the cheap route since I almost never use a flash and got a Metz 36C-2 for my M6 TTL. It is auto, has three f-stop settings, a zoom head, and bounces.
Mike Rawcs Posted January 20, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted January 20, 2011 Thanks for the replies - has anyone had any experience of the Metz 20 C2? Mike.
too old to care Posted January 20, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 20, 2011 Mike, cannot speak for the 20-C2. But I just reread my first post. I do not want to imply that my flash (36C-2) works with TTL, it does not, it is just a little bit bigger version of the 20-C2. I think either would be a great flash on a budget.
