Advertisement Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Hi ruiespanhol, Take a look here Kodak Potra 160VC -Is better then Reala?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted July 12, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2006 I think you might like it better than Reala. I've used both and find the Portra to have more realistic color rendition. Skin tones are superb and grain structure is excellent.

Skin tones are superb and grain structure is excellent. I use a lot of Reala and must agree with Brent. Portra's probably better for portraits and such. If you are into the "punchy" colors the Kodak 100UC and 400UC are really nice; but Portra is definately more natural (in my opinion). Thanks. ed_oneal Posted July 13, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 13, 2006 Several years ago my brother talked me into shooting his daughter's wedding. I'm no professional, but based on the recommendation of a friend who owned a photo shop, I used Portra NC 160. For every pose I shot two exposures with the Blad and one with the Leica M3. Everything was perfect. We chose to print solely based on the poses, eyes closed, etc. Skin tones with NC were astounding. I even got one of the bride in front of a stained glass window, using fill-flash. That film is fabulous. Having said that, I don't have any experience with VC, however, NC certainly saved the day for me. Great film, but your choice of VC and NC has to be based on the subject. lambroving Posted July 13, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Use VC for dull light. The newest contrasty glass does not love it in very bright light. Use the NC for the latter and have the lab crank up the saturation a bit for the prints. Color seems very accurate.
