Swiss Mister Posted January 14, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted January 14, 2011 Just got an X1 rather than the DLux5. Did I make a good decision ? Â Let me know if it was the right decision, I am finding it hard to decide between the two myself.. I love the versatility of the DLux5 but the optics and quality of images I've seen from the X1 tempt me so much..
Guest badbob Posted January 14, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted January 14, 2011 I used to have a DL4, and the main advantage I got from it were better indoor photos without flash up to ISO 800. Now I have an X1 and it's a different world. Much, much lower noise, even at ISO 3200.
Walt Calahan Posted January 14, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted January 14, 2011 How can anyone know if you decision was correct for you? Â Just make photographs, regardless of the camera.
Mr_Jones Posted January 14, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted January 14, 2011 I have both in the fold, imho opinion the dlux5 with X1 IQ would be an amazing camera! Â The X1 does not always get the shots you want, but what you do get is amazing image quality. If you can do without that image quality and appreciate portability and software flexibility then the dlux 5 is a great camera. Â What swung it for me is the image quality, with the X1 the images seem real to me, the Dlux 5 is good but the distance between them in IQ is not small. Â If you want a lot of bokeh for example the dlux 5 doesn't do that much. On landscapes the two are quite similar, with the DL5 being a bit saturated. Close up portraits etc. not really comparable, the X1 excels there.
