Mr_Jones Posted January 12, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted January 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Got an ever ready case (the grey one) to keep my X1 safe on my travels. I would like to skip using the lens cap while it's in the case but don't want to find out the hard way if it's not a good idea. Â Anyone got any experience they would like to share? Advertisement Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hi Mr_Jones, Take a look here Ever Ready Case with no lens cap?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DwF Posted January 13, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted January 13, 2011 I recall reading on this or other forum, that someone witnessed the Leica rep at a trade show demonstrating the toughness of coating on the X1 Elmarit by grinding away at it; with what I do not recall! I was impressed when I read this. Of course the rear element is more critical so as long as you don't try and change the lens out in on a beach in the wind, you should be okay! Â Did anyone else read about this demonstration? Â David
LeicaBraz Posted January 13, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted January 13, 2011 Understand you can't change lenses on an X1...
DwF Posted January 13, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted January 13, 2011 I do understand and looking back (too late to edit) I neglected to include a wink! Thanks for mentioning that LeicaBraz. David
