DwF Posted January 12, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted January 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I notice that there are a couple of alternative batteries to the Leica one for sale on the bay. One of those is 3.7v 1400 mAh rather than 1600 which is what the Leica specifies. A forum member a while back posted a battery listing 1400mAh that he liked. Does someone have a recommendation on one that is inexpensive and safe currently for sale somewhere? Tanks in advance, David
Advertisement Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hi DwF, Take a look here Update on Batteries. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earful Posted January 12, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted January 12, 2011 i considered buying one of the non-oem batteries also. then i read a post by someone pointing out that if something happens that affects the camera, it could invalidate your warranty. looking at the bigger picture, spending $2k on a camera and then balking at $90 for an oem battery did seem odd. i haven't purchased a second battery yet, but when i do, it will be one of the popflash oem $90 specials. DwF Posted January 12, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted January 12, 2011 Thanks for that Earful. I understand where you are coming from , and saw the same post....describing a battery exploding.....the graphic sat with me for a while! Â On the other hand, I did this sort of research (FWIW) for my M8 knowing about the warranty and have replaced those batteries twice successfully. I might also consider the Popflash special as I was unaware of it. Â David
