pico Posted January 13, 2011 Share #42 Posted January 13, 2011 [...]Coming out of the SR-71 program[...] OMG, flashbacks. There's a retired colonel in town who flew the SR-71A. He is famous for his newspaper editorials and Sarah Palin-like rhetoric. He is one of the above. (don't want to feed his name to Google.) BTW - You strike me as far more intelligent than any USAF NCO I ever knew. -- Pico - RAF Upper Heyford during the days when ... peter_n Posted January 14, 2011 Share #43 Posted January 14, 2011 The Fotoman is a very simple camera. It is not a major feat to make one. Should the Chinese unfortunately succeed in replicating a Linhof Super Technika, then I would take notice, although I do not need another. Regardless, copying is far easier than inventing, and that's what the Chinese often do - copy. It is indeed simple and that's the beauty of it, apart from the machining. As for copying, yes they copy as did the Japanese to begin with, but in the case of tripods Gitzo are not even trying to play catch-up.
