andybarton Posted January 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2007 You will need to do some research in Italy, Annibale. I found my company through a photographic magazine advert, IIRC.
xjr Posted January 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2007 When you read the small print and conditions of these so called specialised camera insurance companies you will discover that it is a pointless excersice....at least for amatours.
gvaliquette Posted January 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 23, 2007 I disagree, Angelos. Although I do not know the specifics of insurance in Italy, I would start by contacting the insurance agent from whom you currently have insurance (home, car, etc.) and ask about coverage for personnal articles (cameras, jewelry, furs and other precious property). At least here in North America (U.S., Canada) the coverage is widely available and affordable and is real. You may need invoices, if you purchased the equipment recently, or an estimate (from your favorite photographic supplier?) if not. My cousin had similar coverage for a MF cameras and lenses. His equipment was stoled. He claimed his loss. The insurance company paid up, and then quickly cancelled his policy, BUT they DID pay! Keep us posted. earleygallery Posted January 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Your home insurers will be able to extend you contents insurance to cover the cameras against theft whilst you are out using them, or as Andy has done you can arrange separate cover. Speak to your existing insurers first and speak to a local Broker, or do an internet search.
