bigfatboy37 Posted January 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, I just got my Dlux 5 a few weeks ago and is looking for a new case for my new toy. Right now I am using Crumpler John Thursday 80. I find the fit a bit tight with the handgrip added. I was wondering what other people are using to store their toy. I have a bigger camera bag use when I bring my Digilux 2 out, so not a problem when I bring all my gear. I'm looking to see if there is anything i should consider changing to. If there nothing that i really like, i'll just stick to my Crumpler. There is also the question, when I get the EVF, how am I going to store in a camera bag or should i say a camera pouch? Advertisement Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Hi bigfatboy37, Take a look here Casing for Dlux 5 with Handgrip (EVF in the future). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Walt Calahan Posted January 7, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 7, 2011 Why does this camera need a case to begin with? When I'm done shooting, I slip it in a small, inexpensive camera hip bag that attaches to my belt. I think I bought it at Staples for less then $15. bigfatboy37 Posted January 7, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted January 7, 2011 Pardon my English. It's a hip bag or pouch not a case as I mentioned earlier. Does yours have a handgrip?
Walt Calahan Posted January 7, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2011 My camera has a grip. Pardon but I thought my English is quite clear. Why a camera case? When I shoot I only need a camera storage pouch until I bring the camera to my eye. My nose has never damaged a camera. I question the need for any camera case. Never used one on my M6 bodies, or my old CLE bodies. Don't need one for my Hasselblad. Surely don't need a case for my Arca-Swiss 4x5 or KB Canham 8x10. I'm simply suggesting to put your money into the future EVF, and skip a camera case all together. My little hip pouch holds my camera with an EVF attached to the hot shoe with ease. bigfatboy37 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted January 9, 2011 Ok thanks for advise. I'll just see what the store have available thatwill fit the Dlux 5 with a hand grip and Evf.
jjonsalt Posted January 11, 2011 Share #6 Posted January 11, 2011 I just ordered this, Tenba, but also looked at Zing. They fit the D-Lux 5 with grip, but I won't be having the EVF on but some times.
Digitom Posted January 16, 2011 Share #7 Posted January 16, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ok thanks for advise. I'll just see what the store have available thatwill fit the Dlux 5 with a hand grip and Evf. I don´t know where you are located, because what I have I hear is not easy to get in the US (Cullmann doesn´t sell camera bags there??). I use a Cullman Lagos vario 200. I already posted here photos about it. Maybe you can get a similar hardcase for your cam. YOu can wear that bag also on your belt! http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digitalforum/148692-unterschiede-d-lux-5-dmc-lx5-5.html#post1527872 @Walt Calahan I did not know what as "hip pouch" is and my translator finally said it is a bag to wear at the belt, so isn´t it the same as a belt case? Well, maybe you both talk about nearly the same? I think a case (however what case or puch you mean) is necessary to protect a camera after using. Maybe I misunderstood, but to put the camera e.g. just into the backpack with other things is -for me- not a good solution. But I agree it is unnecessary to use a big and bulky case for a small camera. Maybe also the following is a solution: the pedcro wrap-up is available for many different cameras, also for D-Lux 5 with attached handgrip:
LVSBB6 Posted January 19, 2011 Share #8 Posted January 19, 2011 I would get this: OFFICIAL Leica snapshot case 18722 for D-LUX 5 / HG&VF - eBay (item 150533842086 end time Feb-11-11 12:21:23 PST)
jjonsalt Posted January 19, 2011 Share #9 Posted January 19, 2011 I took the OP to mean with the EVF attached. Anyway, PopFlash has the case for $179.

ExistentialEye Posted February 5, 2011 Share #11 Posted February 5, 2011 My advice for a small waist pouch is a Pacsafe anti-theft 100 Hip Pack. It holds the D-Lux 5 with Leica grip and EVF...along with a spare battery, memory cards, Richard Franiec's mechanical cable release adaptor, cable release, an Ultra-Pod...and lots of other small accessories. It stays nice and snug around your waist is light-weight, unobtrusive, easy to reach in and quickly extract the camera from...and best of all, will deter snatch & grab thieves. Pacsafe Anti-Theft Bags & Travel Security Products Bit smaller than it looks in the photos.
okofoto Posted June 8, 2011 Share #12 Posted June 8, 2011 It looks a bit big.. Did you buy it in Vancouver? If so, where? (I got to the point where I want to see before I buy). Thanks.
