Recommendation for Screen Protection

Okey-dokey--I get your drift. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!! Just ordered one from B&H and it'll arrive on Monday.

Martha, you are wasting your money. The comment about an anvil was supposed to be some sort of joke I suppose.

The M8.2 and M8u (assuming the screen glass was upgraded) are completely durable in normal use. Both my M8u's show no sign of wear at all, unlike my M9 which looks pretty bad.

With an M8.2, you are lucky to have a sapphire glass screen which really does not need any protector.

[/rant-on] It's a great pity that Leica do not provide a better glass for the M9 in place of the feeble polycarbonate effort. Sapphire glass may be expensive but there are other lower cost solutions such as the tempered glass found on big Nikons which is very durable in practice. Leica's attitude is, it's too expensive to provide the best solution so we'll go for the worst one instead. My £350 Nikon P7000 point and shoot has a glass screen so why can't the M9? [/rant-off]

Yes it was. Sorry if that didn't came across...

I agree that a screenprotector for the Sapphire glass of the 8.2 is a waist of money. Why it's not on the M9 is a mistery to me too. The wrong way of cost cutting imo.

A warning to glasses wearers: The edges of any hard screen protector (rather than soft film) might scratch your glasses if the edge of the protector comes in contact with your glasses in the course of shooting.

How does the Giotto 8250 fit around the edges of the screen? The protector I got with my new M8 3 years ago was a little too large (I think Tony Rose sent me an 8252), so it extends a little beyond the raised black "hump around the edges of the screen itself. I scratched up my glasses before I realized what was happening and covered the sharp edges with black tape.

On the bright side, the Giotto protector has lasted 3 years and is still free of any major marring.

I was unable to get hold of the Giottos SP8250 in the UK so have used the Ac-Maxx protector on both my M8 and X1. They are a good fit and after 6 months plus have given good service.

Tony

Tony, where did you get the Ac-Maxx from? Their website suggests Red Dot, but they are not shown on Red Dots web site. Haven't phoned them to check though.

Thanks

Andy
