robert_parker Posted December 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everyone I've got a VC 21mm f4 lens which seems to be quite a good example and was going to put it on a coded adaptor for use on my M8.2 ( the Voigtlander lens is screw mount) what coding would you favour for this lens, as there seem to be several options. Advertisement Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hi robert_parker, Take a look here Correct Code for 21mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest V64 Posted December 20, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2010 I have coded mine as a 24mm 'lux - primarily because I have a milled Leica 135mm adapter! Tried most of 21/18/16 mm codes, all seemed to leave me with a magenta tinge!
carstenw Posted December 20, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 20, 2010 In the table I have relied on the advice of Sean Reid and others to choose the 21 Elmarit ASPH for the CV21/4.
doubice Posted December 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 21, 2010 Don't forget that the LTM to M Mount adapter for the 21mm lenses has to key in the 28/90 frames. This has been discused ad infinitum - the lens needs the correct 6-bit code and has to activate the appropriate frames to display EXIF data and provide the right correction. Lenses that match the M8 frames (24 - 35 - 50 - 75 - 90) have the appropriate mounts to key in the right frame. Lenses outside of that range have to key in the 28/90 frame by default, for the coding to work. The only exception to that rule is the 18mm Super Elmar, which keys in the 50/75 frames. No wonder that 'V64' has not been very successful in coding his lens...... Best, Jan
Guest V64 Posted December 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 21, 2010 It is easy (if a bit inconvenient) to use '21/28mm codes' on a 35mm adapter - you have to push the frame lever over (to 28mm frames) when either mounting the lens (for Tri Elmar codes and associated menu selection) or when taking the shot (for 24/25/28 mm codes). doubice Posted December 30, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Robert, Don't forget that there are 90mm adapters and and than there are 90mm adapters...... The one you want is shaped like this one: Leica screw mount adapter for 135mm - eBay (item 290516106017 end time Jan-02-11 11:16:51 PST) The ones that have a cut-out between 4:00 and 8:00 o'clock, cannot be coded properly, because the cut-out is where the coding will go. Here is an example of what you do not want: Vintage Leica IRZOO screw-bayonet mt. lens adapter. NR - eBay (item 280608154552 end time Jan-02-11 19:00:27 PST) Cameraquest also sells LTM to M mount adapters, which are suitable for coding - he calls them Type II Screw Mount Adapters. I use the Tri-Elmar code. It asks me 16, 18 or 21 (and I select 21) and has a f/4 too. And it's only one dot you need
