Shootist Posted December 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just shot over 1000 total images with my LX5 and at the 999 mark the camera created a new folder numbering it 101 and naming the subfolder on the card reading 101_PANA. Making the file name be P1010001, and so on. On every other camera I have ever used the folder name never changed until you hit the 9999 image mark. It seems the LX5 is creating a new folder long before other cameras, at the one thousand image mark. This could be a problem down the road, at one hundred thousand image, if the folder name doesn't increase by one character, to 9991_PANA. There seems to be a zero that is not being used, P101 0 001. Just wondering if the DL5 is doing the same thing. Not that I will ever hit that 100,000 image mark with this camera before I move on to some other P&S camera. Advertisement Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Hi Shootist, Take a look here Funny/weird file numbering LX5. Same on DL5? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted December 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 17, 2010 Ed, I don't have a D-Lux 5, but that's the way the D-Lux 4 works. Same on a couple earlier Panasonic-originated Leicas as well. Must be a Panasonic specialty!
farnz Posted December 17, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2010 Ed, Only up to 800+ on my DL5 so I can't tell yet but I think you make a good point. I suspect that I will have upgraded to the D-Lux 15 before it would be a problem though. Pete.

All my Panasonic cameras have had this "problem". It's most of all a problem the way I ingest and rename my files from the card. Most of all it's anoying. - iau
