Bo_Lorentzen Posted December 10, 2010 Share #21 Posted December 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yup, use them all the time, girlfriend think they are great for stuff. had no idea one was supposed to keep the original box and plastic bag etc... now they tell me.. lenses are carried loose undressed in the camerbag, in a chalk-bag in the belt, or naked in a coat pocket. Actually my 135 is used so little that it is in fact in the original leather case, nice but not sure where I put it. .
Advertisement Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Hi Bo_Lorentzen, Take a look here Do you use the leather pouch that your lens came from?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted December 10, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted December 10, 2010 Okay, thanks everyone for your responses. I might just keep the ouches for storage (out of the bag) - makes fitting three lenses a lot easier. Cheers John
elgenper Posted December 10, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 10, 2010 If, I were to go out to shoot, I would put my spare lenses in the plastic bag that they originally shipped in, then I'd place them in the leather pouch, then carefully put the leather pouch in the original silver box with the styrofoam ends, then put all of this in my padded camera bag. I don't leave the house much. I have some lenses that have never been out of the boxes much, other than sitting on the coffee table Rick, you´re being ironic, of course.... I´m somewhat irritated too about these expensive leather jewellery cases that I´ve had to pay for, but are useless for actual shooting. Why not make really good drawstring pouches instead from the same number of cows? They´d be really useful when shooting out of any generic, nonpadded bag. But, of course, a couple of climbers´ chalk bags work well, too. And a worn lens takes far better pics than a pristine one - because you´ve used it and learned its quirks and strengths! The cases are beautifully made but impractical for regular use, so I have purchased an assortment of drawstring bags to protect against scuffs and scratches. Sometimes a spare lens travels in my pocket, or my day bag, or my wife's handbag, so a light cover is quite useful. Maybe it is time Leica had another look at their approach here? FrozenInTime Posted December 10, 2010 Share #25 Posted December 10, 2010 I only use the leather pouches for the big lenses: 21mm Summilux and 90mm Summicron. That way the smaller more regularly on camera lenses can be swapped off and into those larger pouches. I've never ever used the pouches that came with the 35 and 50 Summiluxes. I mostly use climbers chalk bags for lenses and cameras - even found a monster chalk bag that would hold a SWC/M.
masjah Posted December 10, 2010 Share #26 Posted December 10, 2010 Actually, come to think of it, I do use the leather case for my 280/4 R lens. It's a big lens with a big case, and the case comes with its own shoulder strap, so it's actually useable in practice.
