tikipat Posted December 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I got my new baby a few weeks ago and I am really glad that at last there is the possibility to manually focus in a compact camara but ... how does it work? Apart from switch to MF which dial has to be used to focus? ciao!!
Advertisement Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Hi tikipat, Take a look here manual focus on D-lux5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted December 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 7, 2010 You can use either the wheel on the back, upper right hand, or the arrow buttons. Tried it, not to much success, sticking to AF and AF lock.
tikipat Posted December 7, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 7, 2010 ok, tks a lot!! still trying to sort the focus-lock out, the manual is really "poor" related to this kind of info, any good suggestion?
Shootist Posted December 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 7, 2010 ok, tks a lot!! still trying to sort the focus-lock out, the manual is really "poor" related to this kind of info, any good suggestion? There is a AF/AE button on the back of the camera. There is a option in the menu system to have it set to either focus lock, exposure lock or to both. I have mine set to focus lock. I focus on what I want in focus by pointing the camera at it then pressing the shutter button half way, hit and hold that button then recompose. You can also move the AF focus patch around the screen to where/what you want in focus.
Digitom Posted December 10, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 10, 2010 I think the wheel is too hard to use (hard to turn the wheel). I just activate with the wheel (pressing once) and tehn I use left/right arrow keys. Works very good. But frankly say, I think these compact cams are born for using with AF but it is good to have another possibility if needed.
