The Leicaflex SL2 production started in 1974 with camera serial number 1385001 and terminated in 1976 at serial number 1446000. Full information about exposure was displayed on the readout in the viewfinder and the sensitivity of the metering had been increased four fold. A separate button was supplied to operate the display illumination. The camera was equipped with a 3mm split image rangefinder screen. The camera back had a safety lock and was opened by a pulling up the rewind handle. The SL2 was available in either satin chrome or black finish. The mirror had been redesigned allowing lenses of 16 and 19mm focal length to be used. There was a hotshoe fitted. The camera shape was more square in appearance, the back being less curved than its predecessors. Catalogue number 10021 for the satin chrome, 10022 for the black chrome finish and 10023 for the MOT.

IMHO the SL2 is the most achieved “all mechanic” reflex camera.

Illustrations with a SL2 in black chrome finish with a Super Angulon-R 4/21mm lens, catalogue number 11813, with respectives UV alter, lens hood an cap sided by a SL2 in satin chrome finish with a Summicron-R 2/90mm, catalogue number 11219, UVa filter and cap.

In the foreground, genuine card boxes for Super Angulon-R 4/21mm lens and camera SL2.

Included SL2 instructions for use leaflets, German edition.

Also a SL2 MOT mounted, with is elder brother, the SLMOT on the special bracket for coupled cameras, especially for sport reports made at different distances.

Maybe my memory is wrong... but I seem to remember that a "tandem-motorized" device was made also with a sort of synchro mechanism which effectvely doubled the frame-per-second rate... is it so ? I am not sure..... maybe with cameras not side by side but one over the other... my documentation on reflexes is notoriously weak...:o
