For those who are interested in a book that has received widespread recommendation on this forum, "Real World Camera RAW" by Bruce Fraser is on special and in stock at Amazon.com: was $39.99 now $23.19. (Please use the link at the top of the page to help the forum.)

And, no, I'm not associated with Amazon or Bruce Fraser in any way; just wanted to pass on news about a good deal.

All the best,

Pete.

Thanks for the tip, both of you. I immediately bought it and you're right.

The existence of books on ACR is one of the two things which make ACR far superior to C1LE. There is no book on C1LE, and secondly the User's Help attached to it is for C1Pro, not LE. It directs you to icons etc., which simply are not there.

I would dearly love to use C1LE because that's what Leica recommends, but I find it totally unintelligible. So I use ACR which is well documented and intuitive. Am I losing anything in terms of the quality of the conversions from the DNG files from my M8 ? If not, what is the basis of Leica's preference for Phase One and C1 ?

Thanks again.

Albert,

I couldn't agree more.

Very sadly Bruce passed away earlier this year. I understand that he was widely regarded by the digital photo processing community as one of the few true gurus of Photoshop and peerless with Adobe Camera Raw. I, for one, have certainly learned an enormous amount from him that I'm unlikely to have discovered elsewhere.

Pete.

George, thanks for the info. I just set the money aside! This is *the* best photog book out there.

In fact (a few minutes later) I just preordered it on Amazon (10/1 availability). Thanks!
