Hi,

I'm new to the forum, so I apologise if this has been asked before. I've just got my hands on an M2 and am trying to decide which would be the best way to go about metering with it. I have been thinking seriously about the Voigtlander VC II meter, as it's convenient, simple to use and seems to be accurate, however, i have also been thinking about the sekonic twinmate l-208 and the gossen digisix.

would anyone be able to give me some advice on this, i feel i should mention that my experience of metering so far is restricted to in built meters and i've yet to use a handheld meter.

any help would be much appreciated!

The twinmate has become my favorite. It is very small and light. It also is very easy to use. While not particularly sensitive, it appears to cope well in situation where you aim for hand-held shots.

However, I do not know the other types. My other meters are a Gossen Lunasix 3 and a Sekonic 298, both much larger and heavier than the Twinmate L-208.

fdta,

Welcome to the forum!

The VC II is a competent meter but doesn't offer incident metering.

The DigiSix is also tiny and light but tends to chew through batteries quickly because it's not possible to switch off the non-photographic, though useful, functions that run in the background like the clock.

The L-208 is an excellent meter that offers reflective or incident metering, is light, quite small and is the one I have ended up using when I don't need spot metering.:)

Pete.
