David Turner Posted November 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have had problems with my R8 working in humidity conditions (70% at the beach), and I know that I was not the only one. ¿Do anyone have had the same problem and get repair it? stuny Posted November 27, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2010 David - I've had my R8, both in film mode and in DMR mode in higher huimidity than that for many days at a time, and at the beach many times. I suspect the real issue may be how clean all it's contacts are, including the contacts on the batteries themselves.
janki Posted November 27, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2010 Where I live, by the coastline of the North Sea, the climate can be quite humid. My Leica R9 (almost equal to R8) are doing fine as long as the temperature is above zero degrees Celsius. However, in winter, when temperatures drop below freezing, I have sometimes problems with the mirror that do not return from the upper position. This is due to poor contact in the switch for control of the mirror at the bottom of the left side of the camera body. Sometimes low temperature also leads to problems with the automatic ISO setting. I've also noticed that low temperature combined with high humidity, can create difficulties when the fingertip is working to activate the light meter function. Cold and humid climate at the same time is a major stress for all kind of camera equipment. Therefore, I hope that all Leica models in the future will be equipped with so-called weather sealing to protect electronics and contacts.
David Turner Posted November 29, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted November 29, 2010 Thank your because your answer. I think you are right, the problem is the contact in the mirrow.
