leicanewbie Posted January 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone comment on whether the viewfinder brightness is the same between the R8 and the R9 ? My R8 is going in for repair (again) and I'm seriously debating getting a second camera body so that I'm not stuck waiting 3 - 4 weeks for turnaround. thanks Milan
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Hi leicanewbie, Take a look here Any difference between viewfinder brightness R8 / R9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
masjah Posted January 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2007 Milan I think they are the same - I've got both. Certainly the actual screens are the same for both cameras.
stuny Posted January 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 18, 2007 The biggest diffeence between the two is the exceptionally light-weight top plate. The next biggest change is the number 9 instead of the number 8. There are other minor changes, but none with the excellent viewfinder.
ruiespanhol Posted January 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 18, 2007 They are the same viewfinder and in my opinion bouthe are excelent. The big changes are the top cover made in magnesiun and some improvements whit the flash and metering. You say your R8 goes to repair once more:( what is the problem of your camera? leicanewbie Posted January 19, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 19, 2007 Rui, The camera was working fine for about a month, and now the DOF mechanism doesn't spring back. Normally it does so that you can adjust the aperture while you look through the lens. So now, if I stop it down to f/16 or f/22, I can barely see out the lens because the DOF preview is stuck that way. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix. rsolomon Posted January 19, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 19, 2007 Does this happen with all lenses ? Did you try just taking the lens off and look at the mechanism to see if it move freely without a lens ?
leicanewbie Posted January 20, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, with all lenses. It's probably a good thing this has happened now, because the day I received it back from repair initially, the shutter wouldn't trip sometimes without rapidly applying / releasing the DOF lever a couple of times to free up the mirror. Bizarre.
rsolomon Posted January 20, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 20, 2007 sounds like a repair is needed
ruiespanhol Posted January 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 22, 2007 leicanewbie , In the inside it was one spring so when you active the DOF this spring makes the mecanism came back to original position when you leave then. Maybe this spring came loose or broken. Pay attention to the rubber cover near the DOF botton because thsi cover sometimes peel of and stuck the DOF botton!! I clean mine when I notice this problem and no problem whit the DOF botton. When your camera came back pay attention to this. Best,
