My heliopan 46mm filter can be screwed into the 7.5mm sleeve.  Fits perfectly.  This is to prove the 7.5mm sleeve has 46mmx0.75 female thread.

My Telyt 280 4.8 V3 lens head can be inserted into but won't be screwed onto my Leica Bellow II front flange directly.

The lens head and its focusing unit uses a thread which diameter is smaller than 63.9mm of the Leica Bellow II front flange thread and their thread pitches are also different.

I left a small gap between the lens head and the Bellow II front flange to let you see they are "perfect" to look/match from outside but their threads won't be engaged.

Can someone post a picture of the Telyt 280 4.8 lens head which can be screwed into the Leica Bellow II front flange directly?   Just the lens head only.

Does it have the detachable 7.5mm sleeve as on my Telyt 280 4.8 lens head?  Thanks.

Here I am !!

This is my 280 V3 lenshead - 3.059.688 - originally sold as lenshead only (11904) which MAYBE is a significant detail (I haven't a complete V3 11914) : the end part with the 46mm thread looks not different from yours

The 16598 ring that you can see in the above pic (some fonts have lost paint...) can anyway be mounted :

So allowing mount on bellows 2 like you depicted :

BUT... the other, larger, thread of the lenshead, which in my item originally accomodated the 14138 ring for Televit mount (see pictures in the "historical" posts of this thread...   ;) ) is 63,9 mm, to say, it DOES fit directly the bellows 2 :

Coupling is perfect and solid, no doubt is the same thread : it must be observed, however, that this kind of attachment has a very limited focus throw... I just checked... you can focus to infinity (of course, with a Visoflex II/III in the middle... I used the Novoflex LEM/VIS, which has the same length) , but the bellows is not far from its full extension... fully extended it focuses down to 5 meters or so... no less (I didn' make precise measurements tonight) : all in all a set that has little practical usage... onto a tripod, maybe if one gets accustomed to operate quickly on the bellows focusing rail (which is rather smooth) can be a decent setup for some sport/wildlife action shooting from fixed position...

My conclusion : Telyt 280 V3 lensheads are NOT all of the same kind : yours is  "old" (first batch) and cannot fit drectly the bellows... mine is "last batch" and fits directly the bellows... from the previous posts of this longtime thread seems the other 280V3 have the head like mine , other like yours... could be interesting to disover when this modification did occur... V3 was made in small batches (and my one, in particular, seems to be from a batch of lensheads only) and from the items in the hands of forum member it could be not difficult to determine this little "divide"...

Could you just show the 14138 attached (screwed in) to the Telyt280 4.8 lens head?

I saw a picture of the 14138 adapter, but I don't see any outside male thread of 63.9mm.  Do I miss something?

Just curious.

So, it looks like my first batch of V3 lens head is the same as your last batch Lens head only. :)

...uh... it seems to me NOT : yours does NOT fits directly the bellows, from what I have understood (post #144) , my one does.... it was a matter of discusiion in this thread 4 years ago... B)  someone saying "my 280 fits directly the bellows", some others saying "impossible... my one doesn't"....

Just to be clear... let the caliper speaks about my lenshead.... ;)

14138 engages onto the 63.9 mm thread, of course (see post # 108 quoted above)

So 14138 is for Televit use only(cannot use on Bellow II).  Is that right?

Your lens head shown in #147 is the same lens head in #146.

So the later production of V3 has 63.9mm thread and the smaller 46mm thread .

To increase the close-up capability of this lens, the camera's extension tube can be added.

The aperture ring on my first batch of V3 and your last batch of V3 of this Telyt 280 4.8 lens looks differently.   I don't have a caliper to measure but use my ruler, the larger thread of this lens is about 63mmx0.75 and the one on your last batch seems to be 63.9mm x1.0.

It is clear now 14138 is for Televit use only.  Is 14138 for Telyt 280 4.8 V3 late production with the 63.9mm larger thread only?

How my early production Telyt 280 4.8 V3 (and V2)  can be connected to Televit?

Thanks.

The 280 V2 CAN be mounted on Televit, unscrewing a collar and mounting the 14138 instead (see post #112 -113-114 in this thread) : of this I have direct evidence from my 280 V2... don't dare to say anything about the 1st series of V3... by logic, it could not be mounted on a Televit (14 138 engages onto the famous 63.9 mm thread... which from your evidence, and from others' too, is different in the V3s of the first series)

  • 2 weeks later...

Bomber!  There might be different version of 14138.

Recently I bought a Telyt 280/4.8 V2 SN:1919002xx with 14138 (I believe).

This 14138 ring can be screwed in the Telyt 280 V2 lens head SN:1919002xx with no surprise.

Surprisely, it (14138) can also be screwed in my Telyt 280mm/f4.8  V3 (first batch of production) SN:27138xx lens head.

I am pretty sure that my Telyt 280mm/f4.8 V2 and V3 lens heads have the same thread, about 63mmx0.75.

I do not have any Televit to test my 14138.

I will post some pictures later.
