thighslapper Posted November 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2010 Xmas 2010 or 2011 ?? I enquired about a Noctilux recently and the official Leica UK Agent reply was 12 months.....
wudai_e Posted November 11, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted November 11, 2010 Oh man.... but at least if that's the case, my bank account won't be hurting as much, just got a used M8.2 + 50mm cron + Zeiss 35 F2 + Nokton F1.1 over the M9 + just one VC lenses(hard decision), and looking at my credit card bill, I know I'm going to the 7th level of hell for ordering the lux and don't have the patient to wait for it
matlep Posted November 11, 2010 Share #4 Posted November 11, 2010 Ordered the lens recently, for anyone who ordered it and got it, how long was the wait? I'm hoping to get mine before Xmax... Ordered my in late august and got it last week. So for me it was about 2,5 months. My initial response was 12 months wating time from all reseller i contacted. My reseller actually ordered the lens back when it was released. So I would not get my hopes up for christmas delivery. thompsonkirk Posted November 11, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's no 'average.' A small number were available, & then production stopped for a fix. Then production probably went to the conspicuous-consumption M9 Ti project. Those who've received them since then seem to be in or near the Euro zone; little or no sign of 'em in USA. Kirk
proy Posted November 11, 2010 Share #8 Posted November 11, 2010 I recently picked up both the 35 Summilux (new one) and 50 Summilux (new one in chrome). The process was pretty simple. Periodically check the usual suspect websites and when one is available, pounce! Very happy with both lenses. I hate the waiting game.
nurron Posted November 11, 2010 Share #9 Posted November 11, 2010 I had one on order at Adorama, and was I fifteenth on their list. I did get one two weeks ago, but not through Adorama. A dealer happened to get one in and let me have it because of complications with a different order. In a word: it's other worldly and worth the wait! W4Leica Posted November 12, 2010 Share #10 Posted November 12, 2010 I happened to call a dealer for inquiry of 35 or 50 summilux lens availability yesterday, and was told at least to wait for 5 months.
sarav Posted November 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted November 12, 2010 Ordered in late septembre. Received a couple of days ago. I was lucky! They first told me it would have been delivered in late decembre.
tdtaylor Posted November 12, 2010 Share #12 Posted November 12, 2010 I have had one on order since June 22. First promised, Sept, then Oct,... Spoke to them (a large Austrian dealer) Wednesday, and they are receiving lenses so slowly he wouldn't venture a guess. Don't mind waiting- have other lenses to use until it eventually shows up. BRJR Posted November 12, 2010 Share #13 Posted November 12, 2010 Ordered the lens recently, for anyone who ordered it and got it, how long was the wait? I'm hoping to get mine before Xmax... It tooked me five months to get mine; as, I pre-ordered it (from Adorama.com) on the same day Leica announced this lens but didn't get it until the end of September 2010. BRJR Posted November 12, 2010 Share #14 Posted November 12, 2010 I happened to call a dealer for inquiry of 35 or 50 summilux lens availability yesterday, and was told at least to wait for 5 months. Five months, is exactly how long it took me to get my 35mm revised summilux-m lens, from the time I pre-ordered it on day the lens was first announced by Leica (I should have been first on their list, as I had to bring their attention of the release, and the lens had not already been added to their web site). JWW Posted November 12, 2010 Share #15 Posted November 12, 2010 Prepaid mine in full in May as soon as announcement came out and got it in July. It may be that some dealers give priority to folks paying up front. It's a super lens and use it the most now on M9. Good luck!
doug_m Posted November 12, 2010 Share #16 Posted November 12, 2010 The new 35 lux ASPH is indeed a dream lens. It and the 50 lux ASPH are both quite worth any long waiting period.
Nickers Posted November 12, 2010 Share #17 Posted November 12, 2010 I put a hefty deposit down at the beginning of April, thankfully the rumours were correct, received mine direct from Solms pre-calibrated with my M9 end of August. Excellent lens. Sorry the rest of you have to wait but it is worth it. Nick
lsolum Posted November 12, 2010 Share #18 Posted November 12, 2010 I happened to check my Amazon.com wish list this morning & it was in stock. I couldn't believe it, but I immediately ordered it. It has been shipped & will arrive on Monday. I guess that is "zero" wait time.
thompsonkirk Posted November 13, 2010 Share #19 Posted November 13, 2010 Irony: As soon as I wrote above that I didn't think any were coming to US yet, I got a phone call, an invoice, & a tracking number. It's apparently a Zen thing: when you get loose from your desires, no telling what will happen. Kirk
D&A Posted November 13, 2010 Share #20 Posted November 13, 2010 Isolum, true story...very late last night, I was doing some work at the computer and when I took a break, I checked amazon and there was one just sitting there waiting to buy. I clicked on my account and placed it in shopping cart, but was falling asleep and barely could stay awake. I said to myself, oh, I'll finish up in the morning and shut everything down...can you believe? Since they probably only got one last night, I bet the one you got, was the one I didn't finish ordering. So wondering, does that mean I can at least borrow yours whenever I need to? Knowing my luck, it will be another 6 months till I come across one again. Dave (D&A)
