deirdre Posted November 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got an old Summitar from 1951, one of these pic of it on my GF1 I just got an M8, so I need an IR cut filter for it, but they don't apparently exist. I've tried to search through everything -- so it's apparently an A36 filter, but I can't figure out what I'd need to get a working filter arrangement with something from B+H, nor where to get it from. I'm tempted to just do the downmarket thing of painter's tape and a too-large filter, but that'd interfere with setting the aperture, so I'd rather not go that route. deirdre Posted November 11, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted November 11, 2010 Well I got this far: Leica part number and modern maker. Is B+W's 39mm filter effectively E39? Leica's? Sometimes being new is an unintended education.

deirdre Posted November 11, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks jaapv. Does the 39mm B+W IR filter fit into that? That's the remaining question I have.
peterm1_Leica Posted November 12, 2010 Share #5 Posted November 12, 2010 Short answer is yes it does fit the adapter - that's the adapter's purpose. I have an original one which allows me to use any standard 39mm Leica filter on the Summitar.
deirdre Posted November 12, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted November 12, 2010 Thanks! I was pretty sure that was all I needed, just wanted a sanity check before ordering the wrong thing. Not that that's stopped me before.
