rafael_macia Posted January 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have both a Visoflex 11 & 111. Recently I picked up a 400 6.8 Telyt. I have an MP. My question is; Is there any way to use the instant return mirror feature of the Viso 111, and take meter readings with the built in meter. I somehow think with an MP, no, but with an M7 and the "A" arperture priority setting, it might be possible. Flipping the meter up to take a reading, then flipping it down relegates me to a tripod. When I have used the Telyt on a tripod, the Viso 11 seemed easier to flip the mirror down, and up. The 111, although nicer in many respects, is slower to operate the mirror. Sorry to go on, but I want to use the Telyt, and want to meter from the camera. Any suggestions? thank you Rafael Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

jc_braconi Posted January 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2007 Hello, I used both the M6 & MP with the viso I , II & III and Telyt 6.8 /400 & 560 but must use the tripod as you must get the mirror up you will lose accurate aiming when looking in the viewfinder for speed control ( I usualy stay on the 6.8 aperture setting ) I find out more useful with my R8 & universal stock ! lars_bergquist Posted January 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 17, 2007 Metering is actually easier with the Viso II. Here, you pull the lever out and swing it forward until it snaps in again. (This, and the prism finder swung 180°, is actually how I transport a Viso II with a lens attached, for greater compactness.) You can now release the mirror with the lever, pressing up, without releasing the camera shutter. When you have your reading, swing the lever back into its regular position and cock the mirror again. This is much faster than fiddling with the mode selector of the Viso III, as you can do this by feel alone. I have successfully used this technique with a M6TTL (though with a Viso III prism, in order to clear the higher top of this camera body). With an auto exposure camera, I am told that you can adjust the threaded bolt of the lever in such a way that, when you release the thing normally, the camera has time to ascertain the correct exposure in the time interval between the release of the mirror and that of the shutter. This works OK if, when looking through the CAMERA finder (natch!) when releasing the Viso/camera rig experimentally, you see the selected shutter speed flashed very briefly. I will also try this out with my M8 when it arrives. The combination of a motorized auto exposure camera and a Viso III shuld be interesting indeed. I thought of the M7. I have heard on AUTO the Viso would have the time to allow exposure. *** Anyway, Lars, I agree. the Viso 11 is overall much better for flip up metering. The 111 is better for hand meter use. thanks again.
