Obviously it's still under warranty but should I take it back to the dealer, send it to the country importer or send it (or take it as it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive) to Solms ? I have an M8 with the same problem and thinking of getting an M9 just for this reason. This, combined with the fact that a 50mm summilux asph is nowhere to be found, it's no good news for me, that's for sure. Cost aside, wondering if M9 with pre asph 50mm summilux (only one my dealer has) will actually have ANY advantage compared to my M8 with 35mm summicron asph. Was really geared to go for the M9 this weekend but the M8 is so good at low ISOs which made me think twice... Now with this, the decision is even harder to make. Leica Camera made 14.000 M9's in the first nine months so I guess that might be around 20,000 plus by now? Any lenses that you enjoy on your M8 will of course do more for you on an M9. Noise wise its performance is around a stop better again too. Can't help you on availability of the most desired lens models. You can blame that on the success of the M9 as well. Some reports have indicated that demand has more than doubled for the lenses as a result. You need to get in line with a trusted dealer. How long have you had it if I may ask? Chris, I've had the M9 since early december. As Geoff has mentioned, you should put this into perspective. Only a very small percentage of cameras will have any sort of problem. Also mine is probably from an early batch and in the world of electronic goods some issues are only to be expected, even from a company who has top quality control. Probably the answer to that is that Leica is doing us a favour. "Leave the money in the bank and by the time the lens is available you will get a UV filter for free with the interest" To be honest the "light streak" doesn't worry me much. Sensor pixels of any technology will eventually give up. That's a fact. On CCD sensors they produce a light streak because of the sensor architecture. OK no problem, can be fixed. Free under warranty, great. But how much will it cost after that? Unless Leica moves on from CCD to CMOS this "problem" will always come up. But Leica being Leica, I don't see them doing the switch any time soon. I don't want them to either. I've studied imaging sensors at university and I prefer CCD. Although, I wouldn't say "no" to a back-illuminated CMOS either, I do believe Leica did the right choice there, at least for now. The M9 will be one of those purchases that I will take to the grave. I just know I will not be able to afford another one for a long long time. So I'm looking at this purchase for the long term. I've got quite a few more things in my head re the M9, didn't want to sound like a whiny cry baby who starts complaining when a problem pops up. Sorry for the misunderstanding, English is not my first language. What I meant was: I hope the forum is not filled with comments like "I paid so much and expected quality but all I got was pixel line problems".
