Pecole Posted November 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The superb picture of a truly early UXOOR bellows set provided by Jean-Claude Braconi as a follow-up to my "Fontenelle archives 30" thread, gives me the occasion to detail some of the pieces I had in my Fontenelle Collection. One of my files reads : "UXOOR Bellows I. Unnumbered pre-production model, finished in shining black lacker and displaying a bottom shape different from normal models. It is interesting to note that early UXOOR illustrations (Leica Fotografie Oct.//Nov. 1949; Le Leicaïste nº 1, 1950; Liste Photo 8201, Feb. 1951) depict a "shiny lacker finish". Unfortunately, I didn't trace yet a photo of this particular piece, but I'll keep investigating in the thousands photos not yet digitalized. Others UXOOR I had were numbered 996, 4738, 6408, 8703 and 8737. The last one came with a professionally custom-made adaptor ring and Carl Zeiss Tessar 4,5/135 lens head nº 10759272, and an especially adapted UZEOO compendium fitting the Tessar. I also had one engraved "f=12,5cm" instead of f=5cm on the graduation of the right-hand side reproduction scale.

jc_braconi Posted November 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2010 What always impressed me at Leitz : the possible connection from the past to the present.
Zephyr Posted November 9, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 9, 2010 Very interesting accessories. The mark 12,5 on UXOOR indicate the use of the Hektor 12,5 cm lens on it, as it was specially made for the Visoflex. Probably from 1954 all ( ? ) UXOOR had this scale. Do you have any information about the serial numbers ? (see my question on this forum)

I investigated in Wetzlar some years ago (including for rangefinders and viewfinders serials), but it seems that Leitz had no (or had not kept) production registers other than the ones for cameras and lenses.
