apvnm Posted November 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have an old leather Leica bag. It was made in Germany and has Leica 1913-1983 on the outside. It has two parallel zippers to open the entire top. Do not have images yet but does anyone know of any Leica 70th anniversary bag releases? Much obliged, Alex

luigi bertolotti Posted November 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2010 Welcome to the Forum!!! I remember (vaguely, lot of years ago) to have seen a brochure of a commemorative edition which said that the kit included a "special bag"... don't remember other details (I saw the brochure at my dealer' shop, but didn't take it away...), and I am not even sure it referred to the well known 1913-1983 series (which included lenses properly engraved, too). Sorry, I haven't anything more precise about... it was so much time ago that could well had been 1983... , anyway, I'm sure they were times of M4P or first M6... and the camera in the brochure was a chrome one (so could have been the M4P "1913-1983", made in 2500 items)
luigi bertolotti Posted November 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted November 5, 2010 Ok, I checked: M4P 1913-1983 HAD its proper bag : see here : Leica M4-P 70th Anniversary , probably the brochure I spoke above was for this item.
apvnm Posted November 5, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted November 5, 2010 Thank you for the info and the link. While there is no photo the text sure does make me think that what I have is that bag. The partitions inside would be consistent with what is described as included with the kit. Alex:)
luigi bertolotti Posted November 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted November 5, 2010 ... and is your bag EMPTY or with a fine M4P set inside ? Try to watch into with attention...
apvnm Posted November 5, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted November 5, 2010 I wish. Alas, all of my Leicas (not all that many really) were stolen over ten years ago and I had to go on to Large Format and now Digital. I'm downsizing my Studio to do my bit for our struggling economy and found this bag and a Congtax outfit with some interesting lenses. I had the Contax outfit reconditoned about 5 years ago and showed up at one of my shoots. The Client almost had a cow but the images were fabulous. The only Leica.Leitz gear I have left are some of the fabulous ball heads and a well worn C1 point and shoot. luigi bertolotti Posted November 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted November 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, in this case, I'd bet that to put it for sale on ebay could be a smart move: 70th anniversary M4P ar note so rare, but I bet that there are not so many 70th bag around... a collector who has a body and a pair of lenses I think should be well disposed to spend a decent amount to complete his kit... apvnm Posted November 7, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted November 7, 2010 I think that your right about that. At least it is worth a try.
