leicanut2 Posted October 30, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted October 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just got a brand new never used boxed Ocular Leica to R scope eyepiece. Now heres the question will this work on all R lenses by that I mean 2 cam 3 cam etc. The instruction says all R lenses? I know you should not use it on the wide angle lenses as you may hit the glass. And why would you as the focal length would not make a very good telescope. Any imfo on this would be welcome. elgenper Posted October 30, 2010 Share #2  Posted October 30, 2010 While I haven´t owned one of these, I can´t see why the cams (or their absence) would matter; no metering or stopdown is taking place (the lens used should be left wide open to get best resolution). Some of the r lenses have a small extra step on the mount.  Jan

Some of the r lenses have a small extra step on the mount. Jan  Those with the extra step are some wide angles that won´t mount on earlier cameras than the SL2, because the rear element would hit the mirrors on the SL and the original Leicaflex. The cams and ROM as such have no function whatsoever on the adapter. Don´t think these wide angles would be of interest in this context (anything below 50 mm gives too little magnification to be useful).  In any case, there are no moving mirrors, so carefully trying to mount a lens should show whether it works or not. IIRC, this adapter was launched far later than the SL2, so there should be no problems with any ´reasonable´ lens.

Thanks Doug,  I have sold all my R stuff except for my 560mm and one other small lens going to make use of the small lens using this telescope ocular. I have not taken the ocular out of the plastic yet maybe I will hit the marsh next week end and try it out.  Jan.  Should not have sold my 280mm rom kick me if you ever see me. Cheers , ha.
