Stephen.s1 Posted January 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's an M6 on it's way to me. My first Leica. I know I'll need diopter correction in the eyepiece. My question is; how do I relate the proper correction to the opthamologist's prescription? Thanks. Advertisement Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Hi Stephen.s1, Take a look here Diopter question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brunom Posted January 15, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2007 Stephen Personally I think the best way to deal with this problem is to find a main Leica dealer, and try several dioptre lenses ,and then pick the weakest one that you can comfortably use to see clearly through the viewfinder. From your spelling of dioptre [ diopter] I guess you're from America where because of the vast distances etc mail order is used a great deal, which will cause problems with my method, if mail order is how you have to buy ? Why not email Leica with your prescription and go with what they suggest ? Bruno

stumac Posted January 16, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 16, 2007 Stephen, Suggest you can take your camera to your optomotrist and select from his trial lenses the one that gives the best results, then order the nearest factory one. I have done this with several cameras with excelent results. I do not know for the M series, the R require a dioptre to give focus at 1 metre. There is probably information available for the M. Stephen.s1 Posted January 17, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks to all. I did see my op'st this morn; post-op cataract elimination. His answer to the question: your right eye (the one sans cataract) needs no correction. ...just as long as you can stand the macular wrinkling, puckering, whatever. Not degeneration.... Hey, I can live with that. The left eye, the one I have been using, needs a 1.75d correction. My take on it all... When the M6 gets here, I'll use the "fixed" eye. Tried it on my ol' F3hp, and it works there, so it should be fine on the M6. Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions. Stephen
