nippa Posted October 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2010 Why not check out the Panasonic equivalent (FZ100) ? Reviews on that are not exactly gushing with compliments.
leicanut2 Posted October 23, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted October 23, 2010 Why not check out the Panasonic equivalent (FZ100) ? Reviews on that are not exactly gushing with compliments. I already did check the dpreview sample pics they looked good to me, but I want a sample from leicas VL-2 I have sold my panny gf1 and lenses and got the DL5 now I think I want the VL-2 Different cameras for different uses anyway got some extra cash left over from the sale of all the GF1 stuff even after getting the DL-5 and it's burning a hole in my pocket. Cheers Jan
gdb Posted October 23, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2010 Coming from the DMR, it is difficult to make any kind of a comparison... Still, not a bad camera: here is an example (Both pictures are processed as jpg in Capture One, and reduced to forum rules) Gérard
leicanut2 Posted October 23, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted October 23, 2010 Not bad for what I want to use it for, and have to say dmr is great but for me I think I am ready for small light have fun type camera and my images will never be made bigger than 8 by 10 got my M9 for high end pics. Many thanks for the sample picture, Jan.
gdb Posted October 23, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's the right use for this camera: better than a point and shoot, with available good autofocus and good telelens, to second a VERY good but heavier camera lie the M9 or the DMR (or even any larger one). The electrnic viewfinder is quite acceptable. Enjoy Gérard
Claw Posted October 24, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 24, 2010 The electrnic viewfinder is quite acceptable. Gérard Is it? I cant stand e-view finder!
leicanut2 Posted October 24, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted October 24, 2010 EV finder is great for concerts and shows where maybe they frown on cameras because when ev finder is on the screen does not light up so more discreet. Jan
dhsimmonds Posted October 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted October 26, 2010 If long sighted and needing reading specs the EVF is a problem and I personally have difficulty using them. However my wife is the opposite as she is short sighted and has no problem using her Panasonic version of the V-Lux-2 and she produces some great images with it too, at all the focal lengths! It is Jpeg only (no Raw) but the quality of the Jpegs when correctly exposed are fantastic. On a recent holiday she returned home, selected her album images, printed them (without any enhancing) and produced her album long before I had even finished processing my Raw files!! Grrrrhh!! I have to say that the quality of "out of camera" Jpegs has improved enormously over the last couple of years and the Panasonic files are no exception to this trend. If the V-Lux-2 came equipped with an optical viewfinder I wouldn't hesitate to use one myself.
