janki Posted October 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I browsed a bit in the photo forum one day and saw David Monkhouse's stunning photos, "steam dream". Thank you very much! ! I remembered some "steam dream" pictures I myself photographed by a veteran / steamboat festival in Stavanger, Norway, summer 2008. The images were made using LeicaR9, Vario-Elmar-R 21-35 and Nikon Coolscan9000.

daveleo Posted October 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 19, 2010 good to see old steam boats in operation. I like when you got up close and let that wide angle lens stretch out the perspective (esp the very last photo). too bad we can't have festivals without people getting in the way ! janki Posted October 19, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted October 19, 2010 Thanks a lot to all of you for encouraging comments. What is extra historic with these photos, is that the famous Queen Elizabeth II, from CUNARD LINE, actually here visiting Stavanger and Norway for the last time, before she is taken out of service. Then it was extra nice and evocative that it happened while the veteran / steamboat festival took place. That evening she left town, several thousand people turned up in the harbor to wave her goodbye.
