jungbum Posted October 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm about to give D-Lux 2 to my mother and get an used Digilux 2 but the seller doesn't seem to have lens cap, lens hood, and lens hood cap. Is there item numbers for these so I can find them on eBay? Where can I buy those and how much would these run usually? And how do I check if the sensor is replaced? If not replaced, would it be possible to replace it for free now? I'm so excited! Thank you!

jrethorst Posted October 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 16, 2010 I'm about to give D-Lux 2 to my mother and get an used Digilux 2 but the seller doesn't seem to have lens cap, lens hood, and lens hood cap. Is there item numbers for these so I can find them on eBay? Where can I buy those and how much would these run usually? I would buy the Panasonic equivalents, which are identical parts, and available from Panasonic online. I bought a backup lens cap, lens hood and hood cap for my Digilux 2 this way. IIRC cost was $10 - $15 for each, much less than the Leica-branded parts. And how do I check if the sensor is replaced? If not replaced, would it be possible to replace it for free now? Email Leica with the serial number. They have been replacing sensors for second owners for free. I'm so excited! I understand.
LKeithR Posted October 17, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 17, 2010 Email Leica with the serial number. They have been replacing sensors for second owners for free. I've been thinking about doing this. Do you happen to have an email address? Thanks...
LeicaMAC Posted October 17, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 17, 2010 There is quite an extensive discussion on this very topic somewhere on the forum. Just search the forum using one of the part numbers below. Part Nos: VYK1C96 - Panasonic square (ish) hood cap VYQ2884 - Panasonic Lens hood VYK1F94 - Panasonic round lens cap Possible email contact for Leica USA - technicalinfo@leicacamerausa.com I live in the UK. so this is my UK experience. I have purchased the Panasonic lens hood. It is exactly the same as the Leica one in every respect. ( I have two D2s so I also have the Leica part). I'm not entirely sure about this (as I have not purchased either) but would suggest the Panasonic square hood cap and round lens cap may have the word Lumix embossed in the centre rather than the word Leica. I cannot comment as to their respective quality and can only vouch as to the compatibilty of Panasonic parts with Leica in as much as the Panasonic hood and Leica hood cap were completely compatible. The price differential (Leica/Panasonic) was... amusing. Panasonic Parts & Accessories
stuny Posted October 17, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2010 I think you are confusing the Digilux 2 (frequently called D2) witht the D-Lux 2. A number of D2 cameras required sensor replacement. I am unaware of there being sensor problems with the D-Lux 2.

Just the caps have logo. Lumix cap says Lumix (per Google searching)

LeicaMAC Posted October 18, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 18, 2010 Yes, the lens hood doesn't have any logo at all and identical to the Leica As an aside, if I remember correctly I think the postal charge for the Panasonic lens hood I ordered (UK again) was almost twice as much as the actual lens hood, but still... "more competitive" than the Leica option.
