christer Posted October 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can somebody please tell me the size (l/w/h; in mm if possible) of the 3f? My googling was unsuccessful.
Advertisement Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi christer, Take a look here size of 3f. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted October 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 12, 2010 Length: 134mm Width: 30mm Heigth: 69mm (my own measuring may differ a little bit from the "official" one due to the rounded edges - if I could find any official dates...) P.S: Page 1 of Emmermann/Neumann, Leica-Technik, 67.-74.Tsd. for the IIIc, which has the same size as the IIIf: ca. 13,5x6,5x3cm. I don't know where my additional 4mm for height come from, but my meter shows them.
christer Posted October 12, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you very much for the information! I used the information to compare 3f and 3g with the following result 3f = 134 - 30 - 69 3g = 136 - 39 - 65 Looks quite odd to me. The 3g info comes from here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Leica_IIIg Perhaps somebody with a 3g could throw some light on this. UliWer Posted October 12, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you very much for the information! The 3g info comes from here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/Leica_IIIg Perhaps somebody with a 3g could throw some light on this. Unfortunately I don't have a IIIg (I am not sooo unlucky about this, I confess). As far as I know the IIIg was higher than the IIIf (and all earlier II and IIIs), so I can't understand the 65mm for the IIIg compared to 69 for the IIIf. The Wiki for the IIIf shows the same data as for the IIIg The measurements for width may differ if you include the little wheel for the long shutter times, I just measured the bottom plate. Differences in length may be due to different points of measurement. I got out a calliper and now It's 69mm height for the IIIf, 66,3mm for the II and III. giordano Posted October 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2010 I've just measured my IIIg which as far as I know is typical. Width is 136, or 145 including strap lugs. Height is 74 approx (just over if you include the wind and rewind knobs, just under if you don't). Depth is 32 from lens flange to back, (just over 38 including slow speed knob and film type reminder dial). I'm sure the widths and depths of the -c, -f and -g cameras are identical (after all, the baseplates are more or less interchangeable) apart of course from the film type reminder and perhaps the slow speed knob). Maybe the figure of 134 applies to the width of the IIIb and earlier, which are definitely narrower than the later ones.
christer Posted October 13, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted October 13, 2010 Thank you both! This now makes sense; width and depth are more or less the same for 3f and 3g, while the 3g is half a centimeter higher due to the larger viewfinder.
