pico Posted October 13, 2010 Share #101 Posted October 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is a tiring thread, and I will go away. I just hate reading things with bullets. OP - Leica is a SUSTAINING business model. They are not a SOTA innovator. If you want to change them, then stop preaching to us. Post a link to your tome. Advertisement Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hi pico, Take a look here The announcement that did not happen M10 at 10-10-10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted October 13, 2010 Share #102 Posted October 13, 2010 This thread to too complicated to moderate from an iPhone in a hotel room, What with all the massive quoting, but suffice to say I am not impressed with the behaviour of several members whose contributions are questionable to say the least. If we get one more complaint, the whole thread will go.

I assume by SOTA you are referring to "Standard on line tourism architecture" technology awards.......You are correct Leica is not in the tourism or architecture business. Thanks for your input and goodbye.

redbaron Posted October 13, 2010 Share #107 Posted October 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Frank, your fundamental error is to suggest that lack of a new model directly after the M8 caused Leica several quarters of negative growth. Have you heard of the GFC? Still no PM, btw. It works fine.
stunsworth Posted October 13, 2010 Share #108 Posted October 13, 2010 Still no PM, btw. It works fine. Nah, you're profile doesn't allow PMs.
Guest BigSplash Posted October 13, 2010 Share #109 Posted October 13, 2010 Frank, your fundamental error is to suggest that lack of a new model directly after the M8 caused Leica several quarters of negative growth. Have you heard of the GFC? Still no PM, btw. It works fine. I have not heard of GFC ...can you elaborate what this stands for ..."Got no Flaming Clue" perhaps? As for your statement that your PM works it does NOT as your profile does not allow it as checked by others............so when you say "it works fine" how do you manage that one........!? Frankly I see this as yet another example of something we should take at face value that is simply untrue and /or provocative. How can you have any credibility when you make statements like that? stunsworth Posted October 13, 2010 Share #110 Posted October 13, 2010 How can you have any credibility when you make statements like that? I think you are reading rather a lot into what would appear to be a genuine mistake on someone's part. I know for example that you have made factual errors in the past, are you proposing that you too lack credibility as a consequence of that?
Guest BigSplash Posted October 13, 2010 Share #111 Posted October 13, 2010 I think you are reading rather a lot into what would appear to be a genuine mistake on someone's part. I know for example that you have made factual errors in the past, are you proposing that you too lack credibility as a consequence of that? Steve no I am not ...I think that there is a huge difference of making small mistakes as I have made on this or that issue, which have been genuine mistakes. I have never once tried to mislead anyone. This compares to saying that "my PM works just fine" where the only inferrence is he is getting emails when he clearly has not, and cannot until his profile is fixed.Frankly RedBaron has nailed his credibility yet again. However I wish we could get back to the actual OP and have feedback on what Leica should be doing within M10 and the M lineup in general and/or as a company. We need to move away from this bickering. What was it that was missing at the Q&A that people here would like to have seen or is it really the case that everyone is satisfied with the feedback received. My feeling is that Leica is trying to address the issues but we rather than giving our thoughts and priorities accept too readily that they are a small company, limited resources and excuses. I would like to see Leica do what Apple and other companies did ...remember they too nearly went bankrupt and now look at them. Leica has the momentum due to M9 and its lenses at this time, but is not shipping 35mm or 50mm Lux, has had battery supply issues has QC issues it seems has M9 now ex stock etc etc I am shocked that the Forum for the most part are not interested in these subjects or have a view. SJP Posted October 13, 2010 Share #112 Posted October 13, 2010 <snip>However I wish we could get back to the actual OP and have feedback on what Leica should be doing within M10 and the M lineup in general and/or as a company. We need to move away from this bickering.<snip> I wish we could move it away from discussing anything whatsoever and get a life. The M10 is not my concern and Leica does not need my advice, or from anyone else for that matter. Leica still exists against all odds i.e. they know what they are doing. The M9 is more successful than anyone expected and the same applies to the S2, the new 35 lux, the 50 lux (> 200 backlog in NL), the new Noctilux 0.95 (> 400 backlog in NL) etc. etc. If you have a unique product then starving the clients and going for premium price levels is a good business model. Anyway I will be happy if Stuart closes this thread as it is just deja-vue
