Thank you both for your quick replies. Really appreciate it.

I've though of a couple more questions...

Q1:

Coming from an APC-S 18mpxl crop sensor, I'm worrying that the 10mp on a 1.3 crop sensor will be limiting for printing at A3 size. Am I worrying for no reason?

[...]

Sorry if these questions are very trivial.

Thanks

Christakis

Q1:

It is not how many MPs you have, it's what you get out of them that matters. I switched to M8 from a Nikon D300 which had 12MPs. The files generated by the M8 are better. They're sharper, thanks to better lenses and the lack of anti aliasing filter and at higher ISO, although very noisy sometimes, once turned into B/W they have the grainy appearance of a high sensitivity film, which is an asset to me.

There aren't trivial questions. In some cases there might be stupid answers. Not here, anyway. What I really love about this forum is the general level of consciousness and preparedness of the majority of the users and I never cease to learn from them.

Cheers,

Bruno

Hi Bruno,

Thank you for dropping me a comment. I do agree that it's not the number of mp of the camera. I am still surprised by the quality of the M8 especially at low ISOs. Not very impressed with the quality at higher ISOs though.

I am not complaining about the noise (as you said turning it B/W turns out awesome) but my camera has a defective pixel which produces a "hot trail". Sometimes it doesn't show at all but other times it's very obvious and needs tedious work on PS to get it right. TBH, it's not a major issue for me else I would have taken it back to get fixed by now.

Being used to shooting at min aperture f/4 on my Canon 1.6x crop camera, an f/2 lens on a 1.3x crop with big fat juicy pixels is heaven in terms of light. Didn't think that a couple of stops would make such a difference. But, boy it does!

Cheers,

Christakis

PS: I noticed that some you guys still use the link I posted earlier to visit my Flickr page. Here's a link to my photostream (This link should take you to the most up-to-date content vs the previous link): Flickr: Christakis' Photostream

Please drop a comment if you like anything and add me as a contact if you want. I like to follow the work of others.

And now the disclaimer: The pics are not perfect, I'm still a new Leica user and; I don't care what people say, Manual focusing is not easy on moving targets ;-)
