Thank-you Germany for a wonderful and memorable month of Football.

Shame about the winner though, there is always someone that spoils the party with their sleezy style of play.

Zinedine Zidane you will always have my respects, Good for you.

Have a happy retirement.

Ken.

Zinedine will never be as great as Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Pele exactly becuase he throughout his entire football career has never been able to behave himself on pitch. His latest disgrace was but one in a long row of unaccaptable behaviors.

The French apparantly accept this as well as corrupt politicians etc.probably one of the more basic reasons for the deroute of France.

As regards the playing style of Italy, they have applied the very same tactics tthat France always applies. play with a heavy physical defence and wait for the opponent to make a mistake, than have a sharp kicker make 1 goal and then back into the bunker.

Believe or not:

Some press here in Asia report that France paid 25M Euro to Brazil, for giving up the place to semi-final. Such amount is even larger than the Champion award.

And you believe that?

I don't for one minute.

"For a game that kicks a bag of wind around, it sure generates a lot of hot air!"

Zinedine Zidane figured out that head butting gets the hot air out.

All the best from the fall guys who outshine boxing dives

Maybe the style of play is dictated by the opponent ? Italy's game against Germany was fantastic and both sides played great football.

Zidane was/is a great player - but he should have known not to respond 'IF' he was taunted, and it's not the first time he's been sent off for similar behaviour.

In my opinion the sole object of modern sport is to win, and nothing more.

It's a pity that top-sport is all money oriented. Look at the italian serie A league for instance. This turns sport into a very commercial event, having very little to do with the actual game/sport itself.

Apart from that all these top foorballers are a bunch of whining woosies, I bet taking theatre classes every other week.

The Zinedine Zidane thing .... ach at least some sign of emotion, if some sleazy scum bag would make my mother/sister/kid out for something awfull I would react too.... probably hitting him across the head with my Leica M photobag.

If this is what sport has come too they can abolish (right word?) the whole thing for my part.

Here we are again: complaining and desperately searching for the bad news - so back to normal:confused:.

that is probably much more to our liking than simply admitting to ourselves that we had a heck of a time and were well entertained for a month...
