Hi ThorkilB - I trust coffee has thawed you out, I must admit that I find some of the comments about our strange camera comparison game a little confusing, especially when we agreed that we'd do "nothing special" photos which is another way of saying "inane" and then someone comes along and says by way of criticism that the pictures are inane. Virtually all camera and lens comparisons use the convention of inane or "nothing special" pictures Huff, Reid, Rockwell, Luminous Landscape and many more all do it. The name of the game is dumb pictures.

Mike is right about the low pixel count here for uploads, it does steal a very large quantity of what we may be trying to compare.

I suspect that if I had taken a bar lit with electric light with WB on auto the M8 would have got itself a bit confused and I have resorted to almost always using a white card to get White Balance more reasonable, I think your Nikon would benefit from that too, that's unless the bar was really that yellow/orange.

Side by side comparisons may ultimately be more useful, 2 guys going out to the same place, my feeling is that by accident we stumbled on something that emphasises the difference between Leica and Nikon, Leica seems to find warmth to its liking whilst the Nikon seems to be geared to make whites and greys colder and push(saturate) one or two colours in a picture a little past what they may really be.

Lieca, on the other hand, is more gentle in its gradients between tones and colours, I think if we were planning this again I'd suggest that taking pictures that show how the 2 cameras deal with the transition between in and out of focus areas and anything that could reveal differences in brand philosophy. My feeling is that the Nikon homogenises things and sees that as a virtue while Lieca sees differentiating between things as their most significant criteria.

In a way the more informative "test" would have been Richard and Mike in the same bar, each pointing their cameras at each other and swapping places (just so the pictures are in the same lighting conditions).
