ThorkilB Posted November 25, 2010 Share #584 Posted November 25, 2010 What is also a gift is being able to look throught the lens ..that need will disappear...just wait...
MikeD700 Posted November 25, 2010 Share #585 Posted November 25, 2010 That's a novel thought Thorkil; that someone would prefer to see the subject not as the lens sees it but schewed; as a parallax view, and then of course start bitching about framelines coming up or not coming up or being incorrect or whatever. It seems to be more like a way to pass the time than to actually capture images... Oh, and gifts do not disappear; they are graciously received with appropriate gratitude and good will... mwilliamsphotography Posted November 25, 2010 Share #587 Posted November 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If people don't get the notion of a rangefinder that's fine by me. I don't even mind agreeing with some folks that the digital Ms are less than one would expect in terms of reliability compared to other cameras in the price range. My M9 has suddenly developed issues. The LCD goes dim, then out completely when I rotate the camera during initial review ... and it keeps saying the SD cards are locked when they aren't. My buddy's M9 has now developed a line of dead pixels. Nothing's perfect. However ... unlike my Nikon, Hasselblad, and Canon service experiences, the terrifying part is getting a Leica M fixed. Based on previous issues with digital Ms, I'm reasonably sure it'll be a nightmarish long process, and I'm fairly sure it will not be done correctly. My strategy is to wait until after the Holiday season ... then wait until mid Jan. so people pissed that they have to go back to work don't screw up my camera ... : -) -Marc

It sounds that if you have had some bad experience about Leica-service(the quality of Ferrari was also bad before Michael Schumacher went along...so perhaps we just have to find a Leica-Schumacher for Leica to join them...). I still remember your picture long time ago of your daughter(dont remember where), some spooky beautifull picture, when the M8 was new: I guess you as a pro work with both CaptureOnePro and Lightroom3? Would like to ask you, if the C1Pro is enough for all the PP. This danish expert and teacher seems to say so and mean that C1Pro is the best program of them all. Buchmanns Blog - en Goecker A/S serviceOr is it just a matter of relion or habits? Thorkil I think it depends on how much control you want in terms of post tools. Yes, I have the latest version of C1Pro on my computer. With study and practice, it is probably the best RAW processor out there. But, for efficient work-flow LR3 is just faster ... no small consideration when processing a whole wedding's worth of work from 3 different cameras. It is the combination of LR tools, the PS and Nik Define-2 plug-ins that make it so effective and efficient without ever leaving LR3 library catalog for that job. -Marc

He does things with Thorsen Overgaard and just came in from London. I think he knows who you are (???) so greetings from him as well! Okay Mike....thank you, yes I just Googled him at Thorsten Overgaards page [Please leave other members' faith out of discussions]... (sorry Thorsten(!) and still think he might got a point taking manul white balance shots everytime light changes...but when you are impatient it can be difficult I think..)....but he takes some good pictures) Does Tue have a homepage?, didn't find it, but you know, impatience..no, I dont think he know me, in the photografic way I'm just total ananymous (just an unskilled amateur with (previous-) hang for the right gear)....but anyway, we dont all have ferraris...anaway (but I like to visit them..!)
