jpattison Posted September 30, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2010 It could be for attaching a waist strap.... see last page of catalogue... (Gripper Utility Strap) http://www.tiffen.com/userimages/Domke_Cat_noZing_SS.pdf I use mine for clipping my dog's lead (leash) onto when I'm changing lenses. bill Posted September 30, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2010 I have the better-made Safrotto version. I've used them for everything from hanging my shopping off, or a water bottle, or a cloth, or a hat, or to pass a cord around my waist in crowds to keep the bag tight to my body. Regards. elgenper Posted September 30, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 30, 2010 I have had a Domke 803 bag for years. Can someone tell me the purpose of the snap and ring on each side of the bag. Thanks Believe it or not, according to old Domke catalogues, they were put there to allow it to ride ´piggy-back´ on one of the big Domke´s in case you needed to carry documents along with the camera gear. I wouldn´t like to carry such a combo, that´s for sure.... .... I've used them for everything from hanging my shopping off, or a water bottle, or a cloth, or a hat, or to pass a cord around my waist in crowds to keep the bag tight to my body. ... ...and that´s what they´re really useful for! I´ve thought of cutting them off to stop the tingling sound, but then I use it for something similar and think the better of it.
