FinnPirat Posted September 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just checked my Digilux 2 Infos (thx to lesh ) and remembered, that there is "only" firmware version VER 1.0A : 001D on my D2 was this the last firmware version? If not, any possibility to get a newer one? thank you for answers
Advertisement Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Hi FinnPirat, Take a look here Digilux2 actual firmware?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lesh Posted September 29, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2010 Well for what it's worth my LC1 is showing the exact same software version. I'm not sure if that was the version that was onboard when the camera was delivered. It was back at Panasonic for the sensor repair and possibly there was a firmware update then, but maybe not. In any case I'm surprised that the version details are apparently identical on the D2 and the LC1. I've never heard of a firmware update for either camera, but wouldn't it be cool if it could be done? Way way back, I had a Panasonic FZ1 and an unauthorised update was available which enabled the camera to gain the same functionality as the newer FZ2 model. It worked a treat. We can guess that camera manufacturers aren't going to encourage more enhancements like that - I'm sure they prefer selling you a new box every couple of years or so. stuny Posted September 29, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 29, 2010 When I sent my D2 back for the sensor replacement they uploaded a new firmware version which supposedly imporved the autofocus.
FinnPirat Posted September 29, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted September 29, 2010 When I sent my D2 back for the sensor replacement they uploaded a new firmware version which supposedly imporved the autofocus. could you just have a look for the fw version?! (is it more than 1.0?) thx
krabat Posted September 29, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 29, 2010 I also tried this procedure, and my firmware version is 1.09 : 001C . So, I would be curious to know if it is an old one or a new one, and if and how it can be upgraded. Best regards, Peter.
ho_co Posted September 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2010 You could check with Leica Technical in regard to what the current firmware version is. Leica can also install the latest firmware if you don't have it. I'd say don't worry about it till the camera starts acting up. When you send it in for a billable repair, they normally update anything that can be updated, as Stuart alluded to above.
wda Posted September 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also tried this procedure, and my firmware version is 1.09 : 001C . So, I would be curious to know if it is an old one or a new one, and if and how it can be upgraded. Best regards, Peter. Peter mine is the same as yours. I suspect mine was updated when it was sent to Solms for a sensor replacement under warranty. I was surprised to find my shutter count is over 14,000! FinnPirat Posted September 30, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted September 30, 2010 ... my firmware version is 1.09 : 001C ... (is) there is a big difference to mine?! When did they upgrade yours? I had sent my D2 3 years ago to Leica because of a little replacement. But they didn't upgrade the firmware apparently. It would be nice to know, what they improved with the fw upgrades.... mjh Posted September 30, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 30, 2010 (is) there is a big difference to mine?! It looks like you have a slightly newer version of the firmware (1.0A : 001D would be the next version after 1.09 : 001C).
FinnPirat Posted September 30, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted September 30, 2010 It looks like you have a slightly newer version of the firmware (1.0A : 001D would be the next version after 1.09 : 001C). oK; so a 1.0 is newer than a 1.09 FW?! Or is it the 001D that is newer than the 001C?
krabat Posted September 30, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 30, 2010 Yes, Michael, 1.0A : 001D looks like the next version after 1.09 : 001C, if we look at the numbers using the hexadecimal system, although it is strange that there are two numbers (1.09 => 1.0A and 001C => 001D). K@y Piwi, I also had a sensor upgrade (which was, as far as I remember, 2007). So, the version 1.0A : 001D appears to be the most recent one. Does anybody know if an upgrade is possible without sending the camera to Solms?
mjh Posted September 30, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 30, 2010 oK; so a 1.0 is newer than a 1.09 FW?! Or is it the 001D that is newer than the 001C? Actually both. As Peter said, we would have to interpret the number as hexadecimal, so A is 10, C is 12, and D is 13. Thus 1.0A is 1.09 + 1, just like 001D is 001C + 1. balle Posted September 30, 2010 Share #13 Posted September 30, 2010 Three questions re the firmware-issue: (1) Is the internal camera "RAW" -> JPG converter part of the firmware? (2) Is the firmware available/downloadable anywhere and (3) can I upload it myself to the Digilux 2 or LC1?
ho_co Posted October 1, 2010 Share #14 Posted October 1, 2010 bal-- Welcome to the forum! 1) I don't know. 2) Not to my knowledge. 3) Not generally--that is, the firmware is designed for installation by the manufacturer/repair center. The Digilux 2 was introduced before the era of user-upgradable firmware.
lesh Posted October 1, 2010 Share #15 Posted October 1, 2010 bal--Welcome to the forum! 1) I don't know. 2) Not to my knowledge. 3) Not generally--that is, the firmware is designed for installation by the manufacturer/repair center. The Digilux 2 was introduced before the era of user-upgradable firmware. Howard - just an observation on item 3. AFAIK in 2003 or thereby, Panasonic made the firmware for the FZ2 available in the Japanese market to enable owners of the FZ1 to gain some of the new functionality. Unsurprisingly copies of the firmware then filtered out unofficially to the rest of the world. Thanks to that I was able to upgrade my FZ1, way back then. Just mention it to show that it did happen in the years before the D2. I find it hard to imagine manufacturers doing such a thing today, other than maybe to fix bugs (not to add new functionality). But it would be nice if they did.
d_lague Posted November 3, 2010 Share #16 Posted November 3, 2010 I have 1.0A:001D on my LC1. It was updated by Panasonic when they redid the sensor.
