symmetron Posted September 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know of a combination of button settings or "hacks" that allows the D2 shutter sound to be audible, but not the "beeps" when ever a button is pushed? I'd like to hear the shutter, but not the beeps.

AlbertoDeRoma Posted September 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2010 Does anyone know of a combination of button settings or "hacks" that allows the D2 shutter sound to be audible, but not the "beeps" when ever a button is pushed? I'd like to hear the shutter, but not the beeps. You should be hearing the shutter if you turn off the beep, there is no way to mask the mechanical sound. Given the sensor size, however, it's a relatively quiet "click". Alberto
symmetron Posted September 26, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 26, 2010 What I meant is that I would like to hear the sound setting for the shutter and not the beep. Th mechanical sound from the shutter I can hear, but barely.
stuny Posted September 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2010 Vettran - Most of us treasure the quiet shutter on the D2 - Typically you will be the only one to hear it, allowing you to be quiet shooting in quiet settings. Most people never know when I've shot, even when doing portraits with the D2, unless they happen to be looking into the lens and happen to see mechanical movelment. ajthornbury Posted September 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 27, 2010 I agree with Stuart, the quiet shutter is what sets the D2 apart and makes it an Ideal reportage camera.
krabat Posted September 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2010 It is surprising to read that you WANT to have a sound with the D2, dear Vettrain. The D2 users I know so far were always glad to have such a silent camera. I also appreciate the low noise level of the Digilux 2, which allows taking pictures without disturbing people, e.g. during a concert or other occasions, such as wedding, conference, awards ceremony, etc. Best regards, Peter. symmetron Posted September 27, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted September 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the comments about the D2 shutter quietness. I appreciate the quietness of the shutter as well; and have for the last 5 years. However, I am also interested in being able to hear the shutter (only; not the beeps) when I desire. So I am inquiring if there is a hack or some unpublished combination of button pushes that will let you hear the shutter.
John Thawley Posted September 28, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 28, 2010 The Digilux 2 has a shutter?
Promethus Posted September 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 28, 2010 The Digilux 2 has a shutter? This is good!!! LOL!! Silent Is Golden! I can pretend to be browsing photos on my LCD when I am actually framing and focusing. 1 of the best features of Digital, but the inaudibility of D2 is a work of art. LeicaMAC Posted September 28, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2010 Im with you VETTRAN. As its there, I would have like to have had the choice to use (or not) of the click sound but alas, I have not found a way of having the click without the beep! No biggy though. Having been told to provide optional sounds, I think perhaps the interface designers did it on purpose. After all who really wants some fake shutter click providing some... slot machine musical accompaniment to the visual virtuosity of the D2.
