With the camera was a Summicron 35/2 serial number 3465178. So my questions are: I have one of these horrible plastic lens shades from the era. Are there any metal replacement? The hood should have two five digit codes on it as letters and numbers. The hood may be expensive to replace and all to necessary in most open scene conditions. There should be a cap and I'd get a uv filter, and clean that rather then the lens. The hood and filter will protect the lens from damage in normal every day use, sea gulls will demonstrate a liking for CV lenses and utter contempt for crons. It is a high demand collector, but really only by reputation. But I'd not trouble to replace it by the asph. The hood cap for the rectangular hood is useful but they tend to disappear. I'd try and get one, &leave the hood on all the time. The hood and cap new is really expensive. Be happy I have a CV f/2.5 and a pre asph lux, you have a better compromise. The square 12524 hood is the one that goes with the v.4 Summicron. You can also use the vented metal 12585 hood, if you are allergic to either plastic hoods or square hoods. The engraving on my sample says 1:2/50, 1:2.8/50, 1:3.5/50, 1:2/35, 1:2.8/35, 1:3.5/35. But I prefer the square one. Besides, the v.4 35mm Summicron enjoys an excellent reputation, and rightly. It is a lovely little lens. I have coded mine for the M9, and I would never sell it even though I also own and love the v.2 Summicron ASPH. Flare? Not that I notice.
