bluedumbiki Posted September 19, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I would like to enroll in Leica Academy in Athens, Greece and will like to hear your opinion about the two year program. Mostly am interested in learning more about practical skill using my Leica M8. Will this two year course make me a better photographer or is it just a theoretical experience??? Hope you can help me with feedback. thanks

Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2010 Interesting, I did not know there were a two year Leica program. I can't see how it can possible hurt, but personally I find brand specific classes to be a bit missing the point, go take a 2 year fine art study instead and use your leica to complete the assignments. . Adarsha Posted September 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2010 ....go take a 2 year fine art study instead and use your leica to complete the assignments. . I agree. I have learned so much in the first year of my Photography degree. I thought that after many years of photography I knew a bit, but in fact I didn't. I'm not the only one on the course feeling this way either, there's a few more students who've said the same. Fine art study (part of the photography course too) broadens your view of what you see visually and then leads your eye, and your camera to explore things you may not have done before. Check out Berger's book Ways of Seeing.. or even Susan Sontag's writings. But most of all just go for it and do something !! You'll love it. Use your Leica and any other camera you have the opportunity to use.
