too old to care Posted September 24, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also have a Canon 8800F. I bought it when I need to scan several hundred slides, many of them than 40 years old. My slides are a mixture of various film types. For the most part I got excellent results and it was easy to use. I then tried scanning B&W and also got excellent results. My problem began when I tried to scan color negatives. I have tried different software, different settings, and different film types, but I still cannot get a decent scan. The color comes out blotchy, I wish I new the secret. But, if your film is B&W or slides, the 8800F will do a great job. And Holmes, if you have any secrets, please let us know. I want to use color film more and get better results.
