New car for the same price as a M8.2? Where do you live, India?

I would imagine that the car would be 'new' to Tonysaurus, rather than 'brand new from the factory'.

Anyway, in my opinion, this choice of a camera over a car should be applauded, and I send Tonysaurus my sincere wishes for many years of joy with the camera, and with photography in general. :)

Exactly! Thank-you for the wishes, the photos I take now I will appreciate so much more in the years to come rather than a fancy car. I do have a car though. It's a crap box but it gets me from A to B (gradually) :)

a car is necessary if you don't have good transportation system in your area.

you will find that they honeymoon phase will eventually die off and will long for a car that takes you places. what a better idea, a car to drive to places where you can expand your photog subjects...;)

take that crap box and go places with the M.

yes, welcome. i am much older than you, but i remember when i first held an M8, in a camera shop out in california. (in fact, it was the first RF i had ever held.) and i remember when mine arrived and when i first took it around a city, finding new things and exploring life. the change from SLR to RF had a dramatic impact on my feel and love for photography.

A couple of months ago I was introduced to a gentleman who also introduced me to his beloved Leica.

I am 18 and I have always used Nikon dSLRs to photograph with. Eventually to my excitement he handed me his M8.2 / Summilux 35 (?) and allowed to me shoot it for an afternoon.

I was stunned.

My brief acquaintance with the M8.2 reinvigorated my passion for photography. Its size and silence juxtaposed to my D2X blew me away. As soon as I save up I am sure to part ways with my beloved SLR and enter the world of the M's. I hope that more of the younger generation embrace a Leica!

Regards,

Vicente
