wda Posted September 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2010 Superb examples of macro work with any lens, let alone that rare specimen, a Leica-M macro lens. Colours are richly saturated, there is fine detail and these pictures are fully up to reproduction standards. The secret is to ensure a fairly flat plane of focus in at least part of the subject., as you have done here.

Rick Posted September 9, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2010 Nice. So many Leica lenses and so little time... p.s. Where you hand holding that with your RRS L-bracket?

geaibleu Posted September 11, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 11, 2010 Limiting the number of colors as especially exemplified in your #2 is a recipe for success!

hoppyman Posted September 12, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted September 12, 2010 A couple more shots for the people that enjoyed those first two. These are all from the Macro Elmar 90 without the close up attachment on the M9 too. All about 640 ISO and handheld. Welcome, dear visitor! geaibleu Posted September 12, 2010 Share #16 Posted September 12, 2010 Very impressive as these are so crisp as to suggest a tripod. Could there be an other explanation? One of my learned friends involved in the Olympic games drug testing told me that shooters are not EPO prone like in most other sports they are (heavens forbid...) inclined to test different vodkas, Absolut being at the forefront. What do they use down under? Jealously yours...
hoppyman Posted September 12, 2010 Author Share #17 Posted September 12, 2010 This is just using good technique since I didn't have my tripod there. A higher shutter speed/ISO etc and proper sharpening in Post tailored to the content. Above all superb Leica glass on an M9. This one was with the assistance of my tripod Hedge Grasshopper in my garden photo - Geoff Hopkinson photos at pbase.com That is true regarding competitors in Olympic level shooting sports though In this case only moderate consumption of local wine and BBQ lunch was involved however.
