Question: Summarit lens cap

Just a quick one. My Summitar (yes I know the header says Summarit - slip of the fingers) arrived sans cap. I currently have a modern 2.8 Elmar cap covering it's modesty but that is far too loose. What should I be looking for? I'm not precious about it - a modern copy is fine, or something in a fetching and functional black plastic would do the job.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Bill

hello Bill,

DAG sells the one you need for 12US; the 36mm size lens cap. It is silver metal with the leica logo on it. I am sure ffordes or other uk proprietors could supply you with one, too. I had to get one for my summitar as well.

good cheer, thomas

36mm is for 3.5 Elmar and other small lenses. The Summitar requires a 41mm cap. Hunt for an original or get a Kaiser plastic one from B&H in New York. Or get one of each as you will not want to carry a Leica one in the field where it can get lost after you pay for it. Summarit caps are even more.

ah yes, my blunder; it was in fact the case I had to order a lens for my elmar, not the summitar...sorry for any confusion, bill.
