craygc Posted September 19, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) With a softie in the shutter release button I have one of those elastic hair ties women have (they seem to come in packs for very little) the ones without the metal joiner attached to the strap lug clip. Whenever I have the camera cocked and intend to put it away, just two quick loops around the softie and no more accidental lost frames

Steve Ricoh Posted May 4, 2017 Share #22 Posted May 4, 2017 An old old thread I know, but I'm a new user and whilst understanding the preceding discussion, there's another issue I've discovered (although page 19 of the instructions states what I'm going to say) is the lack of metering unless the shutter is tensioned. The scenario is evident, I'm sure, you need to wind on to tension the shutter and thus enabling metering, but for some reason you decide not to expose the frame. Decision time: expose a random frame deliberately or run the risk by other means. A bit late in terms of affecting the design solution (to say the least), but a shutter lock surrounding the release button would have been a welcome addition, as implemented on the Pentax MX for example. I don't know of other camera designs but I'm guessing the shutter lock was a fairly common feature.
pascal_meheut Posted November 25, 2019 Share #23 Posted November 25, 2019 Hi, I had the same problem and reading this thread gave me an idea. I already had a softie (Abrahamsson I think) so I cut a "clip" in a soft plastic, i.e. a after-market CD cover, drilled a 7mm hole, cut it. It works fine with my M5. Welcome, dear visitor!
